This is what we've been up to: Tour de Pörinä all over Europe!
Travelblog containing some blablablah during our trip, we have not kept a travelblog ever, so this is a fine start to it. Lots of spelling errors and some photos along the way. Hopefully we enjoy writing the stories as much as you like to read them. It's all about the boogie!
Let's get the facts straight:
People: Aino and Santtu
Travel time: 6.4 - 4.5.2015
Budget: LOW, OH SO LOW 8D
Places: Netherlands (Amsterdam, Tilburg, Eindhoven) - Germany (Duisburg, Hannover, Berlin) - UK (London) - Denmark (Copenhagen)
Methods: Flying, hitchhiking, couchsurfing + the basics
Reason: We've visited Roadburn festival for many years and always dreamt of extending the trip to other festivals in Europe. So this year we do it.
First festival to attend to is the one and only Holy Temple of Doom, Roadburn in Tilburg. Staying almost one week at Beekse-Bergen cabins, there's an unique atmosphere. Even cooking breakfast, lying on the couch and talking shit with good friends (that we see too rarely ;) ;) ) makes it perfect. And ofcourse the celebrating, partying, feasting -part of it all. And like years before, there's shitloads of awesome bands to see.
When Roadburn is over we hitchhike to Berlin Germany, spend there couple of days (never been in Berlin before, really looking forward to it!). In Berlin there's alot to see and do, if you got cool tips you can suggest some! Hitchhiking part is about 640km and we probably got hands full of ___b. Hitchhiking route is guite planned but everything can change!
After hangin out in Berlin we fly to London for The Desertfest! Our first Desertfest :,) Also Santtu's first time in London, I've been there for 24 hours couple of years ago, so looking forward to see more of it. Lots of great bands, festival is in Camden area, should work 5/5. We are bit concerned about London being expensive but whatevs, we'll have to manage. Got nice people hosting us there, already booked one vinyl souvenir from Roadburn to bring with us to London. Lets hope that we get it (limited 250 copies) and lets hope it's a good exchange for letting us stay in the couch :------D
Next stop is Copenhagen in Denmark. Festival número tres is Heavy Days in Doom Town! We've heard lots and lots of good stuff about it. Festivals website tells us this: " Festival is based on D.I.Y. ethics, meaning that the festival is 100% non-commercial, seeking to be an alternative to the corporate music business and commercial festivals. All the work in the process of organising and during the actual fest is on a volunteer basis, so neither we the organisers, nor the bands playing the fest, are making a profit. The festival is vegan, meaning that all food served at the festival will be without meat, eggs and dairy." Bands, prices are reasonable, lots of DIY. Interesting stuff coming. We've never been in Copenhagen before, nice to visit only Skandinavian capital we haven't been yet!
After HDDT it's time to return to Finland. Already pondering about all the cool people we'll meet and how we'll miss every one we already know. But we don't want to think about that yet, too good travelling hype going on now!
We both love travelblogs, especially those ones that inspire doing even the basic stuff abroad, gets you excited in the middle of the night so bad that it's difficult to go to bed, all those good stories about hitchhiking and if something goes wrong, how you dealt with it. Reading about the child-like exploration of the world! That is what we want this blog to be. Or if it's too hard to keep updating this, then it's a boohoo for you guys :--------------D May also happen: ease things up a bit and change update-language to finnish. Can't promise nothing else that we ain't home!
There's no stopping the doomtrain, let the plot thiken!
